Surprisingly, float tank water is among the cleanest you will find anywhere. There are several key factors that play a part in ensuring the sanitation of the water in our tanks. Consider these:

Pre-float showers
Having each and every one of our clients grab a quick shower prior to hopping into a pod means that the body is as free from oil and dirt as possible as well as the products we wear on our skin and in our hair to keep up smelling and looking great! Taking these out of the equation before they even enter a tank means they aren’t even a factor when it comes to keeping our water pristine.

Only half of your body is in the water
Because of the extremely high levels of Epsom salt in the water, the body floats effortlessly on its surface. With that in mind, only about half of your body is in the water. Having only half of your body in the water cuts down the amount of skin cells and other unwanted material in the tank.

Heavy Filtration
According to most health department regulations, a public swimming pool must be filtered completely every 6 hours. Keeping that in mind, our pods are designed to filter water continuously when not being used. In between clients, there is enough time to completely filter the entire content of a tank 3-5 times. Each pod is also equipped with a standard pool cartridge filter and 2 hair baskets which are changed/cleaned regularly.

Epsom Salt
Magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt) is a natural antimicrobial. With nearly 1000lbs per pod, bacteria simply can’t survive.

UV Filter
UV works to purify by damaging cellular DNA—when anything undesirable in the pod meets these purifying rays, they are killed. UV treatment protects against viruses (including Hepatitis, which is resistant to chlorine), molds, and different forms of bacteria.

Ozone
O3, or ozone, is a compound found naturally in the atmosphere. Our pods inject it into the water.  When ozone comes into contact with anything undesirable in the water, it oxidizes it. Ozone actually kills bacteria 3000 times faster than chlorine, with 50 times the power.

Chemical Sanitation
We are committed to ensuring the cleanliness of our tanks while keeping them as free from harsh chemicals as possible. Having said that, we do use Hydrogen Peroxide as well as Spa Enzymes in our tanks on a regular basis and test our water regularly to make sure all levels are where they should be.

Deep Clean
On top of everything else listed, we also do a deep clean on the interior and exterior of our float pods on a regular basis, making sure to scrub everything down with hydrogen peroxide.

Here at Fundy Float, we are committed to running a clean and safe environment for everyone to use and enjoy our float tanks and the benefits of floatation therapy. Need to hit the reset button? You could always book your next float now!
